Climate-smart Conservation and Ecological Adaptation
Abstract
Climate-smart conservation is an adaptive approach to biodiversity protection and ecosystem management that incorporates the impacts of climate change into conservation planning and decision-making. It aims to enhance the resilience of ecosystems, species and human communities by reducing vulnerabilities and promoting adaptive capacity. Ecological adaptation refers to the adjustments made by organisms, populations and ecosystems in response to changing environmental conditions. Together, climate-smart conservation and ecological adaptation provide a framework for addressing climate-related challenges while maintaining biodiversity, ecosystem services and environmental sustainability.
